Egypt received approximately 8.7 million tourists during the first half of FY2024/2025 , according to official government data.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reviewed a report by Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy on inbound tourism to Egypt throughout 2024.

The minister highlighted that tourism indicators reached record levels, with 15.78 million international visitors arriving in Egypt during the year, the highest number ever recorded.

If this trend continues at an average of 1.4 million tourists per month, the country is on track to reach 17 million tourists by the end of the fiscal year.

The minister pointed out that Germany, Russia, and Saudi Arabia were the top countries sending tourists to Egypt in 2024, as well as during the first half of FY2024/2025.

In December 2024, the average national hotel occupancy rate reached 69%, marking a 25% increase compared to December 2023.

In major tourist destinations such as Sharm El-Sheikh, Greater Cairo, South Sinai, and Hurghada, occupancy rates exceeded 75%.

In this context, the minister emphasized promising investment opportunities in Egypt’s hotel sector, with the government offering incentives and financial initiatives to attract investment and boost the tourism industry.

Prime Minister Madbouly reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to supporting the tourism sector, recognizing it as a key pillar of Egypt’s economy.

He emphasized Egypt’s goal of attracting 30 million tourists annually, with ongoing efforts to enhance tourism infrastructure and services.
