The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) released preliminary data on the manufacturing and extractive industries index for August 2024 on Thursday.
The index, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, registered at 111.44, a slight decrease of 0.01% from July's final figure of 111.45.
The beverage manufacturing sector saw a significant surge, with the index climbing to 518.87 in August, up 38.18% from July's 375.50. This increase is attributed to rising market demands.
The printing and reproduction of recorded media sector also experienced growth, reaching an index of 122.90 in August, a 6.63% increase from July's 115.26.
The manufacture of food products dipped to 134.87, down 4.6% from July's 141.40. Similarly, the manufacture of electrical equipment fell to 83.36, marking a 10.78% decrease from the previous month’s 93.43.
