The Cabinet has approved a draft resolution to establish and form the national council for electronic chips manufacturing.
The council monitors the progress of existing investments in semiconductor and solar cell manufacturing technology, examines the issues and obstacles facing them, approves necessary solutions to overcome investment obstacles in the field, and directs the relevant state entities to implement these solutions.
According to the draft resolution, the council will be chaired by the Prime Minister and include the following members: the Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and the Ministers of Industry and Transport, Minister Planning and Economic Development, International Cooperation, Communications and Information Technology, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Minister Electricity and Renewable Energy.
This also will include Minister of Finance, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Wealth, as decided by the council.

The council will convene at least once every two months and whenever the need arises, upon the invitation of its chairman.
The National Council for the Localization of Semiconductor and Solar Cell Technology is responsible for approving the strategy for manufacturing semiconductor and solar cell technology, as well as monitoring its annual update or whenever necessary.
It also oversees the implementation by relevant state entities of plans and policies related to the strategic technology of manufacturing semiconductor and solar cell technology.
