The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has unveiled a new set of regulatory and technical measures aimed at increasing transparency in communications
This follows the recent implementation of new customs duties on imported mobile phones, which went live in January.
The service was developed over the course of a year in collaboration with Egypt's four major mobile operators and the telecommunications regulator, explained an MCIT statement.
Following the NTRA’s announcement, all four telecom operators released individual press statements on their own launch of the technology.
There are four mobile phone service operators in Egypt: Vodafone Egypt, Orange, Etisalat Egypt, and the state-owned Telecom Egypt.
