President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has stressed the need to continue localizing the manufacture of marine vessels to meet domestic demand across the Suez Canal, Egyptian ports and inland water transport, while also expanding into export markets through private-sector partnerships.

During a meeting on Sunday with Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, and Mostafa El Degeishy, Chairman of the South Red Sea Shipyard Company, the president called for adherence to the highest quality standards, compliance with project timelines, and full implementation of occupational safety and health requirements, alongside continuous training for technical workers.

El-Sisi reviewed navigation traffic through the Suez Canal during fiscal year 2025/2026, as well as progress and delivery schedules for new marine vessels expected to be launched in the coming period.

The meeting also covered preparations for two fibreglass factories at the Suez Canal Company for Modern Boats, a partnership between the Suez Canal Authority and the South Red Sea Shipyard Company. The companies have completed the hulls of three passenger boats intended to support marine and Nile tourism.

Officials also reviewed progress on a series of 12 deep-sea fishing vessels under the “Rizq” model, built using advanced global technologies, as well as the manufacture of a 60-passenger river bus for Cairo Governorate.

The president further followed developments in the construction of “Azm” marine tugboats with a bollard pull capacity of 90 tonnes, reiterating the importance of meeting all quality and safety standards.
