Egypt's Tourism Sector witness 3% to 4% growth in tourist arrivals during Q1 of 2024

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, announced that Egypt experienced a 3% to 4% growth in tourist arrivals during the first quarter (Q1) of 2024 compared to the same period last year.

Additionally, the minister disclosed that 4,012 hotel rooms were added in Q1 of 2024 including both regular and floating accommodations. This increase brings Egypt's overall hotel capacity to 222,716 as of March.

Furthermore, on January 30th, it was reported that Egypt's tourism revenues for the year 2023 increased by 8% compared to the previous year, reaching a total of $13.2 billion.

In 2023, the total number of visitors to Egypt reached 14.906 million, surpassing the previous record of 14.731 million tourists set in 2010.

Earlier in October 2023, Issa stated that Egypt aims to boost tourism and attract 30 million tourists annually by 2028.

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) reported in October, that Egypt's tourism revenues increased by 26.8%, reaching $13.6 billion in FY2022/2023, compared to $10.7 billion in FY2021/2022.
