Transport Information Technology Company (TransIT), the technological arm of the Ministry of Transport, Bosch, and the Norwegian company Cypod, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop a smart system for securing and tracking container movement.

The MoU aims to tighten control over containers, mechanize ports and transform them into smart ports.

The Minister of Transport, Kamel Al Wazir stated that this signing comes within the framework of the ongoing efforts of the ministry and its companies to support digital transformation in the transport industry, especially the port sector, in line with the state’s plan to raise the efficiency of Egyptian ports to make Egypt a global logistics hub.

This took place on the sidelines of the fourth and closing day of the TransMEA2023 conference. The Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport (HCMLT) also signed a MoU today to foster progress in the ports field.

HCMLT partnered with Mauritania’s United Development Group and signed a cooperation protocol aimed at boosting cooperation in the field of maritime transport with African countries and to maximize cooperation with the Egyptian private sector.

Egypt signed more than 20 agreements during TransMEA2023 with local and international companies across the fields of maritime transport and ports, trade, dry ports, green transportation and logistics zones.
