Egypt aims to boost tourism and attract 30 million tourists annually by 2028, according to a statement by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa.

Issa pointed out that the government plans to promote Egypt as a tourist destination in various tourist markets through several promotional and marketing campaigns with tour organizers and relevant stakeholders.

Tourism minister confirmed that the Ministry is working effectively with various international airline companies to work on issues they face and increase the number of airline seats annually visiting Egypt.

Egypt is working on increasing the number of hotel rooms in proportion to the expected growth in the number of tourists during the coming period, the minister of tourism stated. He pointed out that Egypt is expected to witness growth in the number of hotel rooms by the end of 2024.

Earlier in October, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) reported that Egypt's tourism revenues increased by 26.8%, reaching $13.6 billion in FY2022/2023, compared to $10.7 billion in FY2021/2022.

The number of inbound tourists increased by 35.6% to about 13.9 million tourists, the report wrote. Additionally, the number of nights spent by tourists in Egypt increased by 27.6% to record 146.1 million nights in FY 2022/2023.
