Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has trained around 162K trainees through its initiatives to boost the Egyptian market’s capabilities in attracting more shared and offshore services centers.

During his opening speech at this year’s ITIDA annual Employment Fair, the agency’s CEO Amr Mahfouz pointed out that Egypt is poised to be the next big business destination and a global offshoring hub, revealing a new ambitious strategy that aims to triple the size of BPO and ITO exports over the next five years.

ITIDA aims to continue pouring investments into increase human calibers through the establishment of a wide range of training programs and initiatives under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), targeting to train 200K trainees, with a budget of EGP1.1 billion during FY2022.

In the last 3 years, the MCIT doubled its investments in technical training programs, reaching EGP 1.3 billion with a target to train 200,000 young people in various ICT sciences.

According to Mahfouz, shared and offshore services centers are a booming industry that has grown due to the spread of digital solutions and increased adoption of polices targeted to improve the quality of support services while reducing the cost of operations and Human Resources (HR).

The ITIDA CEO encouraged offshoring companies to take advantage Egypt’s large talent pool, not only in Cairo, and to leverage the newly introduced models of work that are expected to be the new norm.

Egypt’s ICT sector remains an opportunity-packed and labor-intensive sector, with Mahfouz highlighting the government’s role, alongside major investments, in the development of infrastructure and the growth of digital skills amongst youths, which supported Egypt’s resilience during the pandemic.

This year’s its annual Employment Fair included around 40 international and local ICT companies, bringing job opportunities closer to young Egyptian talents and fresh graduates.

The fair is part of the agency’s efforts to meet accelerated demand for labor in the growing offshoring market through linking local talent with outsourcing and technology employers, which coincides with their work in enhancing business skills and equipping Egyptian youth with essential business and digital skills to join the ICT sector.

“ITIDA has trained 162K trainees through its flagship initiative Egypt FWD, Next Technology Leaders initiative, in addition to the foreign language training programs and the agency has helped in adding 22K new jobs to the sector during 2021”, Mahfouz noted.

Over 6200 young men and women registered to explore and apply to nearly 5700 available jobs and internship opportunities offered by key global and local employers like AWS, Oracle, Webhelp, Dell, Etisalat, Teleperformance, VOIS, DXC Technology, Raya, Majorel, Concentrix.
