Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that his country may consider a proposal to establish a logistics hub for grain and energy in Egypt, noting that there are several ideas worth examining to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Speaking during a meeting with Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, Putin said he had instructed the Russian government to begin preparations for shipments of food commodities to Egypt, particularly grain. He emphasized that Russia currently has abundant harvests and will face no difficulties in fulfilling these supplies.

Putin added: “Following the results of my phone call with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, I issued directives to the government to examine the issue of supplying food commodities to Egypt, especially Russian wheat.”

Earlier discussions between Putin and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, ahead of the Egyptian minister’s visit to Moscow, focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between Egypt and Russia across multiple sectors, particularly in politics, trade, investment, and tourism.

The talks also reviewed the current status of key joint projects, including the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, the planned Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, as well as cooperation in energy, tourism, and the food sector.
