Egypt and Saudi Arabia have signed an agreement to grant mutual short-stay visa exemptions for holders of diplomatic and special passports, in a move aimed at facilitating official travel and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The agreement was signed by Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Affairs, and Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, on the sidelines of a ministerial consultative meeting held in Riyadh on March 18, 2026.
The deal reflects the depth of relations between the two countries and ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral ties across various sectors in a way that serves mutual interests.
Under the agreement, holders of diplomatic and special passports from both countries will be exempt from short-stay visa requirements on a reciprocal basis, easing mobility for official delegations and government representatives.
Officials said the move is expected to facilitate the execution of official duties, strengthen institutional cooperation, and support closer coordination between Cairo and Riyadh.
