Egypt welcomed approximately 19 million tourists in 2025, achieving a 21% growth rate compared to 2024, according to a statement released by Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, described the 2025 results as a major achievement and a strong affirmation of Egypt’s competitiveness.

He highlighted that this success is driven by the country’s security and stability, a clear vision, and an integrated strategy focused on showcasing the unparalleled diversity of Egypt’s tourism products, alongside continuous improvements in the quality of tourism services.

The minister added that Egypt’s tourism growth significantly exceeded the global average growth rate of around 5%, as estimated by the UN World Tourism Organization, underscoring the confidence of international travelers in Egypt as a safe, diverse, and comprehensive tourism destination.

During 2025, Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh, and Marsa Alam airports ranked among the top gateways for tourist arrivals. This highlights the geographical diversity of Egypt’s tourism destinations and their ability to attract different segments of travelers from multiple source markets.

It also reflects the success of the state’s efforts to develop tourism infrastructure, modernize airports, and enhance service standards.

Egypt’s archaeological sites and museums nationwide also recorded strong growth in foreign visitation. Excluding the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and the Grand Egyptian Museum, these sites welcomed 18.6 million visitors, representing a 33.5% increase compared to 2024.

Tourist charter flights rose by 32% in 2025, while New Alamein City achieved an exceptional breakthrough, recording a 450% surge in charter flight traffic, positioning it as one of the most prominent emerging destinations on the global tourism map.

The minister noted that the unprecedented results achieved by New Alamein City and the North Coast reflect the success of the political leadership’s vision and the ministry’s strategy to diversify tourism destinations, expand beach, leisure, and cultural tourism, and create innovative tourism products that combine multiple experiences into a single, integrated journey.

In 2025, tourist flights operated from 193 cities worldwide to various Egyptian destinations, signaling the continued expansion of Egypt’s international air connectivity and growing global demand to visit the country.

The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities emphasized that the coming phase will build on these positive outcomes, focusing on achieving sustainable tourism growth that directly supports the national economy and further strengthens Egypt’s position as one of the world’s leading tourism destinations.
