President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said his attention extends beyond the military establishment to all areas of state affairs, with a focus on improving conditions, addressing long-standing challenges, and resolving shortcomings in public services.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, El-Sisi directed the government to prepare a comprehensive report on achievements across all state sectors in recent years, detailing the expenditure involved and the results delivered. The report will be presented to the public in October during an extended conference lasting between seven and 10 days.
The president called for the participation of intellectuals, specialists, university professors, and other stakeholders to discuss completed projects and national challenges with transparency and credibility.
He also requested a detailed assessment of Egypt’s domestic and external debt, comparing it with the total value of state subsidies provided over the past 50 years.
Turning to the real estate sector, El-Sisi ordered continuous monitoring of developers’ compliance with contracts signed with buyers, particularly regarding the timely delivery of units and the completion of infrastructure and utilities.
He warned that legal action would be taken against developers who collect payments but fail to meet their contractual obligations, stressing that the state would protect citizens’ rights. He added that the same principle applies to safeguarding public access to beaches.
Regarding electricity services, the president instructed the minister of electricity and renewable energy to directly oversee billing, prevent arbitrary estimates, and facilitate the settlement of outstanding payments, including through possible installment arrangements.
El-Sisi also reiterated the need for stronger market oversight and directed the government and the minister of supply and internal trade to expand state-run retail initiatives. He called for the establishment of at least one government outlet in every administrative district nationwide to provide essential goods at prices aligned with citizens’ purchasing power.
On transportation, the president instructed the transport minister to complete all public transit projects within their scheduled timeframes, improve road conditions, and install adequate signage, particularly amid recurring fatal traffic accidents.
El-Sisi also reaffirmed previous directives to the Ministry of Local Development and provincial governors to strengthen field monitoring, communicate directly with citizens, receive complaints and inquiries, improve public services, address local challenges, and ensure strict accountability for violations.
