Egypt’s exports of gold, jewelry, and precious stones rose sharply to $6.76 billion during the first ten months of 2025, compared to $2.63 billion in the same period last year, a remarkable 157% growth.
Ehab Wassef, Chairman of the Gold and Precious Metals Division at the Federation of Egyptian Industries, expects sector exports to exceed $7.05 billion by the end of 2025, marking the highest export level in the history of Egypt’s gold and jewelry industry.
Wassef noted that this exceptional growth reflects the success of a comprehensive strategy adopted by the Division to boost exports.
The strategy focuses on thoroughly studying target markets to align production with international buyers’ needs, expanding the export base through participation in global exhibitions, and building strong commercial ties across Asia, Europe, and the Arab region.
He explained that the Division is working to enhance the quality of Egyptian products to meet global standards, support research and development in gold jewelry design and manufacturing, provide financing for small and medium-sized enterprises, and establish training centers to develop local workforce skills, all contributing to strengthening the sector’s international competitiveness.
Wassef emphasized that improving logistics procedures and reducing bureaucracy are key pillars of the export strategy.
The Division aims to achieve annual export growth of no less than 15% for gold jewelry through 2030, in line with its ambition to position Egypt as a regional hub for the gold and jewelry industry, capitalizing on the current export momentum and placing the sector on a sustainable growth path.
He also highlighted ongoing efforts to shift all exports toward finished jewelry products and to promote Egyptian jewelry globally, including the potential use of international marketing offices when needed.
Egyptian jewelry, he stressed, is of high quality and represents a locally developed industry that has advanced significantly in recent years.
