Egypt aims to increase its trade exchange value with Tunisia by approximately 15% this year, reaching $485 million, compared to $421 million last year.
This came during the visit of Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, to Tunisia to discuss activating cooperation between the two countries in economic sectors, especially priority areas for both sides, which include agriculture and food security, tourism, manufacturing industries, and information and communication technology.
Minister El-Khatib held a meeting with Samir Abdelfattah, the Tunisian Minister of Economy and Planning, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation and develop economic relations between the two brotherly countries.
Both ministers affirmed their commitment to supporting joint efforts to create an attractive investment environment and expand the base of economic partnerships to serve the mutual interests of the peoples of both nations.
Egypt’s exports to Tunisia in 2024 amounted to $371 million, compared to $284 million in 2023, marking a 30% year-on-year increase.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s imports from Tunisia reached $50 million last year, up from $34 million in 2023, a 47% rise, according to data from the Egyptian General Organization for Export and Import Control.
Egypt is currently conducting several visits to neighboring countries with the aim of attracting more foreign investments and enhancing economic cooperation.
Meanwhile, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has carried out a series of diplomatic and economic visits to Kuwait and Qatar to attract further investments. As a result, an agreement was reached with Qatar to implement direct Qatari investments amounting to $7.5 billion in the upcoming phase.
