The total trade exchange between Egypt and Spain amounted to $3.1 billion in 2024, compared to $3.2 billion in 2023, according to data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
While Egypt’s exports to Spain declined slightly to $1.5 billion in 2024, down from $1.6 billion in 2023, imports from Spain increased to $1.6 billion, compared to $1.5 billion in the previous year.
Egypt’s exports to Spain in 2024 included a range of industrial and agricultural products. The highest export value was recorded for iron and steel, which reached $227 million.
Fertilizers followed, amounting to $195 million, while ready-made garments contributed $173 million to Egypt’s export revenues.
Additionally, vegetables and fruits were among the top exported products, totaling $120 million. Egypt also exported plastics and plastic products worth $115 million to Spain.
Egypt imported several key goods from Spain. Copper and copper products ranked first among imports, with a total value of $239 million. Imports of mineral fuels, oils, and their products amounted to $188 million, reflecting Egypt’s energy demands.
The country also imported pharmaceutical products worth $168 million, alongside boilers, machinery, and mechanical appliances, which totaled $133 million. Additionally, cars, tractors, and motorcycles were imported from Spain, with a value of $81 million.
Investment between Egypt and Spain experienced some fluctuations. Spanish investments in Egypt declined in FY2023/2024, totaling $123 million, compared to $161 million in FY2022/2023.
Similarly, Egyptian investments in Spain saw a slight drop, amounting to $61.9 million in FY2023/2024, down from $63 million in the previous year.
