Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, along with Poland’s Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Krzysztof Pater, co-chaired the inaugural session of the Egyptian-Polish Joint Economic Cooperation Committee.

The two ministers signed a protocol during the session, which outlined an agreement on 16 key developmental areas to serve as the foundation for future collaboration.

The protocol aims to enhance trade exchange, strengthen economic and investment relations, and promote the exchange of expertise in vital sectors.

These sectors include ICT, with a focus on knowledge exchange, capacity building, and smart city projects; investment, through the exploration of opportunities in both countries and the promotion of private-sector collaboration; and the Suez Canal Economic Zone, among other areas.

This session marked a historic milestone as it was the first of its kind in 30 years, signaling a renewed commitment to strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.

Additional focus areas include the environment, health and pharmaceuticals, electricity and renewable energy, space, higher education, agriculture, trade, transport, small and medium enterprises, water resources, tourism, internal trade, and housing.

The two sides also agreed on the arrival of a high-level Polish delegation to Egypt in the first quarter of 2025.

This delegation will include investors, economists, business leaders, and government officials, aiming to solidify economic partnerships, explore potential opportunities in Egypt, and begin implementing the outcomes of the committee’s first session.
