The Egyptian Cabinet approved the proposed vision from the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade to regulate Egypt’s automotive market by 2025.

This initiative aims to boost local market investments and ensure a balanced, competitive industry.

The government emphasized that the plan seeks to provide vehicles that meet standard specifications, with authorized service centres offering spare parts.

It also aims to promote fair competition, maintain price stability, protect intellectual property rights, and eliminate any market distortions.

Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the signing of an investment agreement by Nissan Egypt to manufacture a third vehicle model locally, with a local component ratio exceeding 54%.

The company allocated $45 million for the project, alongside $2 million to increase annual production capacity to over 30,000 cars by 2025.

This expansion is part of Nissan’s 20th anniversary in Egypt and aims to boost exports, with over 16,000 units of its Sunny model already exported. Nissan Egypt has generated over $150 million in export revenue and seeks to increase exports by nearly 50% in 2024.
