The total value of Egypt’s food exports reached approximately $3.4 billion during the period from January to August 2024, compared to about $3.139 billion during the same period in 2023, marking a net increase of approximately $233.864 million, according to the latest data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization (CAPMAS).

The rise in exports is attributed to higher exports of several commodities, including orange juice, which reached a value of $90.506 million between January and August 2024, compared to $33.936 million during the same period in 2023, an increase of $56.570 million.

 Olive exports also saw a notable rise, with a value of $68.935 million in the first eight months of 2024, compared to $40.732 million during the same period in 2023, marking an increase of approximately $28.203 million.

Additionally, the list of top exported goods included vegetables and fruits with shells, whose export value amounted to $76.565 million during the first eight months of 2024, compared to $60.958 million in the same period of 2023, reflecting an increase of about $15.607 million.

In November, CAPMAS revealed that Egypt’s trade balance deficit reached $4.88 billion in August 2024, compared to $4.03 billion in the same month of the previous year, marking an increase of 21.3%.

Key indicators include a 7.2% decline in export values, totaling $3.45 billion in August 2024 compared to $3.72 billion in the same month last year.
