Egypt’s Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, met today with representatives from an Egyptian-French alliance, including Hassan Allam Group and Groupe ADP (Aéroports de Paris), to review a proposal for managing and operating airports as part of the government’s privatization program. The meeting underscores the government's commitment to involving the private sector in the management of key infrastructure, particularly airports, as it seeks to enhance efficiency, service quality, and economic growth.

Prime Minister Madbouly welcomed officials from Groupe ADP, emphasizing the company’s expertise in global airport management. He expressed optimism about collaborating with the French company, highlighting the importance of privatization in improving Egypt’s airports. “I look forward to seeing Groupe ADP among the companies competing in the upcoming rounds of the Egyptian airports privatization program,” said Madbouly, underlining the strategic role of the initiative in modernizing the country’s airport sector.

The meeting also marked a crucial step in the broader privatization program being implemented in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The government aims to streamline airport operations, improve passenger and cargo services, and boost overall revenues.

Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El-Hefny highlighted Groupe ADP’s pivotal role in airport management and its previous collaborations with Egypt. “We are open to exploring various forms of partnership with the French group, particularly as we accelerate efforts to finalize the airport privatization plan,” he said. El-Hefny also welcomed a proposal from the Egyptian-French alliance to hold workshops with Civil Aviation Ministry officials to discuss the privatization plan in more detail.

Engineer Hassan Allam, CEO of Hassan Allam Holding, affirmed the alliance’s interest in helping the government meet its goals of expanding airport capacity and streamlining operations. Meanwhile, Xavier Hürstel, Deputy CEO of Groupe ADP, emphasized the group’s track record, with operations at 26 airports across 18 countries and a passenger traffic volume of 336.5 million in 2023. He expressed Groupe ADP’s commitment to long-term partnerships with governments and aviation operators globally, with plans to modernize airports in line with international standards.

Hürstel also outlined the group’s goals of enhancing passenger satisfaction, improving services for airlines and cargo operators, and increasing airport revenues. "We intend to modernize airports to meet global standards, improve service quality for travelers, and support airlines and cargo operators while increasing airport revenues," he said.

This collaboration is a significant step forward in Egypt’s efforts to attract private sector participation in airport operations, aligning with the government’s broader objectives of boosting infrastructure, improving efficiency, and driving economic development.
