Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El Khatib, announced a new plan to significantly reduce customs clearance times, aiming to lower the current process from several days to just two by 2025.

During a recent press conference, El Khatib outlined the phased approach to improve the country’s investment and trade environment, which will begin with reducing clearance times to four days in the initial phase.

This move is part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance Egypt’s competitiveness, streamline business operations, and reduce logistical costs for investors.

El Khatib emphasized that these improvements would not only make Egypt a more attractive destination for investment but also contribute to a more efficient and cost-effective trade environment. The planned reduction in customs clearance time is expected to lower significant expenses related to logistics, benefiting both domestic and foreign investors.

The minister also highlighted that the initiative is in line with Egypt’s long-term economic vision, which focuses on building a transparent, competitive, and investor-friendly market.
