Egypt signed the exchanged letters for the Korean grant for the project's second phase of enhancing educational capabilities and linking the university with industry at Beni Suef Technological University. The grant, valued at $8 million, is directed to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The second phase focuses on ensuring the sustainable operation of the university by developing medium- and long-term plans aligned with global excellence standards.

It includes accrediting education quality for four years, creating specialized industry-oriented curricula, and developing innovative four-year bachelor’s programs in fields such as Mechatronics, Information and Communication Technology, Autotronics, and Railway Technology.

Additionally, the phase aims to strengthen university-industry collaboration by enhancing the ecosystem linking the university to the labor market, improving graduates’ employability, and emphasizing support for female students to empower them economically.

This was in the presence of Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, and Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat.

Al-Mashat added that the new agreement between Egypt and South Korea reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen technological education and link it to industry, contributing to sustainable development and creating promising job opportunities for youth.

The agreement also underscores the close cooperation between the Egyptian and Korean governments, reaffirming their shared commitment to supporting technological education as a cornerstone of economic and social development.

Minister Al-Mashat added that this agreement builds upon the constructive partnership with South Korea, which has chosen Egypt as a strategic partner for development cooperation in the Middle East.

She noted that the collaboration aligns with the Egyptian government’s priorities to support human development and connect education with the labor market, fostering inclusive economic growth.

This grant follows the first phase, signed in 2016 with a value of $5.8 million. The initial phase aimed to prepare youth and meet industrial market needs by establishing the Egyptian-Korean College at Beni Suef Technological University, which opened in 2019 and introduced distinguished programs in Information Technology and Mechatronics.
