CHANG Won Sam, President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), will visit Egypt from November 20 to 22, 2024, to advance development cooperation and reinforce bilateral relations. This marks his first official visit to Egypt since KOICA’s partnership with the Egyptian government began.

The visit follows CHANG’s participation in COP29 in Azerbaijan, where KOICA will sign an MOU with the UNFCCC to launch projects under their Climate Future Partnership.

During his stay, Mr. CHANG will meet with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Planning and Economic Development Minister Rania A. Al-Mashat, and Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchak to discuss expanding KOICA’s development programs in Egypt. These initiatives will focus on achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), digital transformation, and sustainable socio-economic growth.

CHANG will also attend a briefing on Egypt’s E-Procurement System, aligned with “Egypt Vision 2030” and “Digital Egypt,” and visit the E-Procurement Operation Center at GAGS headquarters.

As Korea’s sole ODA priority partner in MENA, Egypt benefits from KOICA’s expertise in education, digital governance, and gender empowerment. The visit underscores Korea’s commitment to Egypt’s strategic potential as a regional hub for Korean enterprises and development programs.

KOICA, established in 1991, supports global socio-economic growth through grant aid initiatives, with its Egypt office operational since 1998.
