Egypt's auto sales in March 2024 experienced a decline of 43%, with only 4.2k vehicles sold, according to data released by the Automotive Marketing Information Council (AMIC).
The decline was primarily caused by a 53% month-over-month drop in the sale of passenger cars, with only 2,800 units sold in the entire month.
Furthermore, truck sales experienced a 10% month-over-month decrease, amounting to 920 units, while bus sales remained unchanged at 522 units.
In March, automobile sales experienced a year-over-year decline of 37%, primarily due to a decrease of 41% in passenger car sales.
Furthermore, both bus and truck sales also witnessed declines compared to the previous year, with bus sales falling by slightly over 18% and truck sales experiencing a decrease of approximately 32%.
Distributors experienced a recovery in auto sales during February, with a 20% month-on-month rebound, with approximately 7.4k vehicles sold. This rebound comes after a 10-month low in January.
Regarding the highest-licensed and insured car brands in Egypt during March 2024, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes, MG, and Toyota were the popular brands, according to the latest report issued by the Egyptian Compulsory Insurance Association.
