Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister of Egypt, announced that the Egyptian government has successfully established 17 industrial complexes housing over 5,000 industrial units. He made this announcement during his speech at the 'Hekayat Watan' "Homeland Story: Between Vision and Achievement" conference, which was attended by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Madbouly highlighted the significant investments made in modernizing the infrastructure of these factories, with over 10 billion Egyptian pounds allocated for this purpose. These efforts are aimed at bolstering the nation's role and enhancing its effectiveness.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the government's commitment to the tourism sector, stating, "Our goal is to double tourism revenues from $15 billion to $30 billion within five years."
He noted the launch of new tourism events and the creation of new tourist destinations, such as the New Alamein City, with the objective of attracting up to 30 million tourists over the next five years.
In addition to these tourist destinations, Egypt is also aiming to achieve a monumental project within the city of Saint Catherine. This global project is being developed at the highest level.
Prime Minister Madbouly further revealed Egypt's ambitions to become a true global logistics hub, with the need for essential infrastructure to facilitate the movement of goods worldwide. He highlighted the most significant project in Egypt's transformation into this hub: the expansion of the Suez Canal.
Madbouly stated that today, the waiting time at the Suez Canal is less than 11 hours in actual figures, and the revenue generated from this vital maritime route is substantial. He also highlighted the importance of the East Port Said Port, which ranks tenth globally.
The Prime Minister underscored the critical role of infrastructure in a nation's development, noting the remarkable progress in water supply, which has reached 99% coverage across Egypt, including water projects.
In conclusion, he mentioned that one of the major challenges was in the area of sanitation, which has now reached 67% coverage, compared to the previous 50%. The state is committed to achieving 100% coverage within the 'Haya Karima' initiative.
Egypt has been actively investing in its industrial and tourism sectors to foster economic growth and job creation. The government's initiatives to modernize industrial infrastructure and promote tourism are expected to further enhance Egypt's role as a regional economic powerhouse.
