The New Alamein city, a new city in northwest Egypt, hosted, for the first time, a three-day technical workshop titled "Modern Techniques for Exploring New Fields." The workshop was sponsored by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in collaboration with the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and in partnership with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS).

The event was attended by Dr. Samir Raslan, the Ministry's Undersecretary for Agreements and Exploration, Dr. Abdelhamid El-Gewaily, Deputy Chairman of EGAS for Agreements and Exploration, and geophysicist Mohamed Radwan, Director of Egypt's Exploration and Production Gateway.

Also present were representatives from leading global companies and 130 experts from 40 international companies across eight countries, who gathered to discuss various topics related to research and exploration operations in the Mediterranean Sea.

In his speech at the workshop, Engineer Tarek El Molla, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, emphasized the importance of ongoing dialogue regarding the exploitation of exploration opportunities in Egypt through specialized technical workshops.

He highlighted the success of the previous workshops aimed at promoting exploration in the Red Sea, which led to maximizing the exchange of technical ideas and the use of modern technology to increase the success rates of exploration drilling.

The speech, delivered by Dr. Samir Raslan on behalf of Minister El Molla, highlighted the significant developments witnessed by Egypt's research, exploration, and production sector in recent years.

These developments have attracted major new companies to work in Egypt, enhanced the investments of existing international companies, and resulted in increased exploration activities and subsequent production rates.

Dr. Raslan indicated that the upcoming phase will witness a continued intensification of research and exploration activities with the aim of increasing reserves and production rates of petroleum and natural gas.

He further mentioned that the petroleum sector plans to launch two global bid rounds for a number of areas during the current year, in addition to the recently launched bid rounds by the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company for exploration of oil and gas in 12 areas in the Mediterranean Sea and the Nile Delta, as well as the bid round by the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation for mature fields in the Gulf of Suez and the Eastern Desert.

These bids will be conducted through Egypt's digital exploration and production gateway.

The statement emphasized that the petroleum sector has successfully implemented an ambitious strategy to develop and modernize the sector, aiming to bring about changes in various activities of the petroleum sector to maximize investments in research and exploration. This includes the application of the latest advanced technology used worldwide in research and exploration operations, with the aim of accessing Egypt's hydrocarbon resources and contributing to the country's economic development.

In recent years, Egypt has witnessed significant developments in its petroleum sector, attracting major international companies and increasing exploration activities.

The country has successfully conducted bid rounds and implemented strategies to modernize and maximize investments in research and exploration. These efforts have resulted in increased reserves and production rates of petroleum and natural gas, contributing to Egypt's economic development.
