Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, banks operating in the local market will resume their banking activities after the longest official holiday of the year.

The banks are scheduled to open their doors to customers from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, an eight-hour workday, following the end of the decision to reduce working hours to four hours during the month of Ramadan.

The Central Bank of Egypt had previously decided to reduce working hours in banks during the holy month of Ramadan, making banking activities available from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.

The "Central" had suspended work in banks starting from last Thursday until today, Tuesday, to celebrate Eid al-Fitr and Sinai Liberation Day.

It is expected that the Central Bank will issue a decision to suspend work in banks later next week on the occasion of Labor Day.

The resumption of full banking activities is expected to support the Egyptian economy's recovery efforts after a challenging year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The move is also expected to boost confidence among investors, signaling that the banking sector in Egypt is returning to normalcy.
