International outsourcing company Transcom launched its Egyptian site earlier today at Smart Village, inaugurated by Minister of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Amr Talaat, and in the presence of the Ambassador of Sweden to Egypt Håkan Emsgård.

During the opening ceremony, the ICT Minister emphasized that the opening of the Egypt office enhances Egyptian-Swedish cooperation in the ICT sector, especially with the availability of several Swedish companies operating in this sector.
The opening is in line with the MCIT’s strategic efforts to strengthen its outsourcing and offshoring industry, which aims to boost by attracting multinationals to establish their specialized centers in Egypt.
This would leverage the expertise and skills of Egyptian youth in exporting digital services to the company’s global clients, Talaat added, pointing out that it would create large amounts of job opportunities, as well as highlight and maximize Egypt’s outsourcing and offshoring capabilities.
The MCIT minister explained that there has been much effort made to strengthen the ICT sector with young talents and enhance their competitiveness through specialized training programs in the latest digital technologies, targeting people from different academic backgrounds to empower them to work in the sector.
Talaat stated that the ICT training budget increased 26-fold and the number of trainees increased 56-fold in four years. He added that ICT skills have been growing in terms of the number and depth of specializations.
Transcom’s Egyptian site spans 8,000 square meters. It has a team of 650 specialists and young Egyptian talents, serving its global clients across different markets. The company aims to add 1,650 jobs within three years.
During the ceremony, the ICT Minister held a meeting with Transcom leaders. They praised the Egyptian talent pool, highlighting it as a reason why Transcom was attracted to and selected Egypt as a strategic location to serve its global clients from.
For his part, Ahmed Elzaher, acting CEO of ITIDA, said “We’re excited about Transcom’s selection of Egypt as a strategic hub for their delivery and offshoring operations”.
Elzaher added that as Transcom was finalizing the establishment of the Egyptian office since late 2022, with ITIDA providing logistical support as part of its mandate to provide the necessary government support to attract big players in the BPO/ITO industry, and the value-added services such as research and development (R&D). This comes within the framework of the Digital Egypt Strategy for Offshoring Industry 2022-2026, launched by MCIT last year.
"Cairo truly offers unbeatable quality and value. The reliable infrastructure, and the fantastic talent pool of highly educated and multilingual people. This is one of the few, if not the only, global locations where we could potentially offer services in 20 languages from the same site, which is extremely attractive for international brands. We have been present in Cairo since 2020, and by mid-2023, we will reach over 800 employees. We look forward to continuing on our growth journey, offering even more opportunities to local talents,” says Jonas Dahlberg, President & CEO of Transcom.
