Manufacturing and extractive industries production index drops 3.04% in Oct. 2022

Egypt’s manufacturing and extractive industries production index fell by 3.04% in October 2022, recording 111.79 (preliminary) compared to September’s 115.29 (final), revealed the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Thursday.

The pharmaceutical and chemical products index was up 3.88% from 117.79 a month earlier to hit 122.36.

The ready-to-wear clothes production index surged by 6.04% to record 114.25 in October 2022 compared with 107.94 in September, explained CAPMAS.

On the other side of the spectrum, the electronic devices industry index fell by 7.11% in October to 116.85 from 125.79 in September 2022.

The motor vehicles industry index slid by 16.66% monthly to 166.71 from 200.04.

Egypt's engineering industry exports rose by 10% in the January-November period of 2022 to hit $3.3 billion, according to the monthly report of The Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EEC). Cables, car components, household appliances, machinery, and equipment topped the council’s list.
