The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) will soon announce its first green ammonia production in the Sokhna industrial zone.

The project is within SCZONE’s framework of taking steps to accelerate the pace of work on green fuel production projects.

The announcement coincides with the proceedings of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh. SCZONE’s pavilion in the Green Zone also witnessed the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry; Minister of Environment, Yasmine Fouad; Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker Al-Marqabi; Minister of Solidarity, Nevin Al-Kabbaj; and Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhi.

The SCZONE’s success in this field comes as a result of signing 16 MoUs with major international companies, an official statement explained, as it has a qualified infrastructure that supports these projects. SCZONE also has 4 industrial zones and 6 seaports overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea.

SCZONE’s strategy towards localizing the green hydrogen industry is based on 3 main pillars, which are the manufacturing of green fuels from green hydrogen, green ammonia, and emethanol, the feeding industries of the green hydrogen industries (electrolyzers - solar panels - turbines) and the ships bunkering services with green fuel through its affiliated ports, it wrote in the statement.
