Engineering exports jumped 27% in first 7M of 2022 | EECE

On a monthly basis, engineering exports were up by 24% in July 2022 to hit $258.7 million, a more significant growth when compared to June’s 4%

Egypt’s engineering exports climbed by 27% in value to $2.1 billion during the January – July months of 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, revealed the latest data from the Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EECE).

On a monthly basis, engineering exports were up by 24% in July 2022 to hit $258.7 million, a more significant growth when compared to June’s 4%. July 2021 recorded $209.1 million.

The sectors with the most growth during the first 7 months of 2022 were electrical appliances which jumped by 44%, cables by 64%, car components by 10.1%, household appliances by 7%, and pumps, boilers and engines 74%, machinery and equipment by 125%, and minerals by 40%.

In its latest PMI report for Egypt, S&P Global noted that several non-oil companies reported a lack of raw material supply as slowing down total output in August, with the subindex for output seeing a slight uptick to 45.8 from July’s 43.6.

Egypt’s manufacturing and extractive industries production index’s preliminary data showed that the industry grew by 6.56% on a month-on-month basis in June 2022.
