Egypt and Turkey Forge New Diplomatic Path with Erdogan's Historic Visit

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi welcomed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his accompanying delegation in their first visit to Egypt in over 10 years, aiming to open a new chapter between our two countries, enriching our bilateral relations and putting them on the right track. President El-Sisi emphasized the significance of Egypt's historical ties with Turkey and the shared cultural heritage during a joint press conference at the Ittihadiya Palace.

During his speech, President El-Sisi highlighted the necessity of mutual consultations regarding the Libyan file, aiding the presidential and legislative elections. He underscored mutual interest in African cooperation, fostering development and prosperity, considering both countries as pivotal regional players capable of achieving peace, stability, and prosperity amidst common challenges like terrorism and economic hardships.

The president expressed pride in the existing cooperation between Egypt and Turkey in swiftly delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza despite Israeli restrictions, urging immediate ceasefire in the region and striving for peace based on international legitimacy.

Regarding Libya, President El-Sisi stressed the importance of both countries' efforts to ensure presidential and legislative elections and unify the military institution. He emphasized that success in achieving security and political stability in Libya would serve as a role model, given the regional understanding of its complexities.

President El-Sisi welcomed the current de-escalation in the Eastern Mediterranean, looking forward to resolving existing disputes among regional countries to maximize the utilization of its natural resources. He reaffirmed mutual interest in African cooperation and supporting its development efforts.

In conclusion, President El-Sisi expressed his anticipation for visiting Turkey in April, responding to President Erdogan's invitation, aiming to further enhance bilateral relations in various fields in line with their shared history and cultural heritage.
