EGX ends lower as benchmark index falls 0.48%

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Tuesday’s trading session, October 6, 2026, in negative territory, with its benchmark EGX30 index, which tracks the market’s 30 largest listed companies, falling 0.48% to close at 53,298.14 points.

 

The EGX70 EWI index of small- and mid-cap stocks declined 0.68% to 19,642.65 points, while the broader EGX100 EWI index dropped 0.69% to close at 25,953.13 points.

 

Total trading value reached EGP 9.085 billion, with 2,3 billion securities across 220,163 transactions.

 

The total market capitalization stood at EGP 4.213 trillion, down from EGP 4,239 trillion at the previous session.

 

Arab and foreign investors were net sellers during the session, recording net sales of EGP 65.408 million and EGP 142.666 million, respectively. Egyptian investors, meanwhile, were net buyers with net purchases totaling EGP 208.074 million.
