Egypt’s private sector has regained strong momentum, accounting for 63% of total investments last year and becoming the largest contributor to economic growth, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said.

Speaking during a dialogue with the American Chamber of Commerce in Cairo, Kouchouk said private investments increased 32% in FY2024/25, following a 77% rise in the previous fiscal year, reflecting the growing role of private activity in the economy.

He added that foreign direct investment continues to perform strongly, with further improvement expected as new projects in energy and manufacturing move forward.

The minister also highlighted improving market sentiment, noting stronger performance in Egypt’s stock market alongside recent tax reforms and government incentives aimed at encouraging more companies to list and trade on the exchange.

Kouchouk said the government remains focused on simplifying tax procedures, reducing burdens and expanding the taxpayer base to support businesses and encourage voluntary compliance.
