Egypt’s net international reserves rose by $920 million in August to reach a record $57.21 billion, up from $56.29 billion at the end of July, according to data released by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

Egypt’s foreign reserves consist of a basket of major international currencies, including the US dollar, the euro, the British pound, the Japanese yen, and the Chinese yuan. The allocation of these holdings varies according to exchange rates, currency stability in global markets, and the Central Bank’s reserve management strategy.

International reserves are a key indicator of macroeconomic stability, supporting the country’s ability to meet external obligations, secure strategic commodity needs, stabilize the foreign exchange market, and strengthen investor confidence.

The Central Bank continues to maintain strong levels of foreign reserves as part of its efforts to reinforce Egypt’s external position and support monetary and financial stability.
