The two sides also signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement, along with a memorandum to enhance economic cooperation in industrial and supply chains, signed by Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid Saleh and Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao.
Egypt and China signed five agreements and memoranda of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation across key sectors during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s official visit to Cairo.
The agreements include a Memorandum of Understanding on priority cooperation areas under Egypt Vision 2030 and China’s Belt and Road Initiative, signed by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Zheng Shanjie, Chairman of China’s National Development and Reform Commission.
The two sides also signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement, along with a memorandum to enhance economic cooperation in industrial and supply chains, signed by Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid Saleh and Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao.
Additional agreements covered cooperation in information technology between Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and China’s National Development and Reform Commission, as well as a memorandum between the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and China’s Ministry of Commerce to boost economic collaboration.
More than 20 other cooperation documents were also signed on the sidelines of the visit, covering technology, finance, the digital economy, transportation, media, and other fields.
Earlier, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and First Lady Entissar El-Sisi welcomed President Xi Jinping and his wife at Al Ittihadiya Palace during an official reception ceremony featuring a cavalry parade, a 21-gun salute, an honor guard salute, and the playing of both countries’ national anthems.
The visit reflects the growing strategic partnership between Egypt and China, with both sides seeking to expand investment, economic cooperation, and technological collaboration.
