Egypt & DR Congo sign MoUs to expand political, investment & health cooperation

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of the Congo witnessed the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements between the two countries on Wednesday.

The signing ceremony took place at the presidential headquarters in Heliopolis, in the presence of delegations from both sides, as part of the Congolese president’s official visit to Egypt.

The agreements included a memorandum of understanding on political and diplomatic consultations, signed by Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and his Congolese counterpart.

The two sides also signed an agreement to strengthen investment relations between Egypt’s General Authority for Investment and Free Zones and the Congolese agency responsible for promoting investment. The agreement was signed by Egypt’s foreign minister and the Congolese minister of planning and coordination of development assistance.

A draft memorandum of understanding was also signed to establish an Egyptian wing for cardiovascular diseases at Al-Nahda Hospital in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The agreement was signed by Egypt’s foreign minister and the Congolese minister of health.

In addition, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Egypt’s Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company and the Congolese Ministry of Planning and Housing to enhance cooperation in housing and urban development. It was signed by Egypt’s foreign minister and the Congolese minister of urban planning and housing.

Earlier on Wednesday, President El-Sisi received President Tshisekedi at Al-Ittihadiya Palace as part of his visit to Egypt.
