Egypt remittances rise 28.4% to $25.6B in July–January: central bank

On a monthly basis, remittance inflows increased by 21.0% in January 2026 to about $3.5 billion, compared to roughly $2.9 billion in January 2025.

Remittances from Egyptians expatriates rose by 28.4% year-on-year to around $25.6 billion during the July–January period of FY2025/2026, up from approximately $20 billion in the same period a year earlier, according to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

On a monthly basis, remittance inflows increased by 21% in January 2026 to about $3.5 billion, compared to roughly $2.9 billion in January 2025.

The rise in remittances comes amid a broader surge in inflows, with the central bank previously reporting that total remittances reached a record $41.5 billion in 2025, up from $29.6 billion a year earlier, marking a 40.5% increase.

During the first half of FY2025/2026, remittances climbed by 29.6% to around $22.1 billion, compared to $17.1 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

Monthly inflows also hit a historic high in December 2025, reaching $4.0 billion, up 24.0% from $3.2 billion in December 2024.
