Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced on Thursday that the “Haya Karima” (Decent Life) initiative has won the Dubai International Award for Best Practices in Sustainable Development, in the category of urban infrastructure planning and management.

The award was presented during the World Government Summit held in Dubai from February 3 to 5, 2026, under the theme “Shaping the Governments of the Future.” The project’s consulting firm, Dar Al-Handasah Egypt, received the award on behalf of the initiative.

Madbouly extended his congratulations to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, recognizing him as the main supporter of this unprecedented national development initiative.

The presidential initiative aims to improve the living standards of over 60 million residents across more than 4,500 Egyptian villages, making it one of the largest national projects in recent decades.

The first phase of the initiative involves implementing more than 27,300 service and development projects across multiple sectors in 1,447 villages within 52 districts in 20 governorates, benefiting around 20 million people.

Preparations are underway for the second phase, which will cover 1,667 additional villages. Priority will be given to infrastructure projects, extending the initiative’s reach and promoting comprehensive development across new areas of Egypt, Madbouly added.
