Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his country’s interest in examining the possibility of signing a free trade agreement with Egypt, highlighting Vietnam’s strategic position, which enables Egyptian products to access broader Asian markets.
During his meeting with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on the sidelines of the G20 Summit, Chinh also voiced his desire to facilitate visa procedures between the two countries, particularly for investors, and to ease the process of establishing Vietnamese companies in Egypt.
Chinh emphasized that there are numerous fields in which bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Vietnam can be strengthened.
He expressed his hope that Vietnamese companies would take advantage of the incentives and facilities offered within Egypt’s free zones, using them as a platform to export goods to neighboring countries and key target markets.
He also stressed the importance of both governments and private sectors following up on cooperation proposals, including the possibility of establishing a high-level joint committee, as well as fostering deeper partnerships between businesses in both nations.
For his part, Prime Minister Madbouly highlighted several Vietnamese companies currently operating in Egypt, noting Egypt’s appreciation for their investments.
These include EUROPLAS, which has established a plastics factory in Sadat City and is seeking to expand further, especially within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, and Song Hong, which partnered with Giza Spinning and Weaving to establish a garment factory in Aswan.
Madbouly also referred to other Vietnamese firms aiming to invest in Egypt, such as Vin Group, which is exploring opportunities in the electric vehicle industry.
Madbouly expressed his aspiration to develop a comprehensive plan to advance relations between the two countries across all sectors, taking into account Egypt’s strategic location and its membership in numerous free trade agreements, which enable Vietnamese products to reach nearby and regional markets.
