Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly

Egypt’s Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, affirmed that the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) stands as one of the most significant national projects completed under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s leadership, describing its official opening as a historic and exceptional moment for the Egyptian state.

Speaking at a joint press conference held a few hours ahead of the museum’s official inauguration, Madbouly said that when construction resumed several years ago, only a small portion of the project had been completed.

“The vast majority of the work, from construction to final execution, was achieved over the past eight years,” he noted, adding that this reflects the government’s determination to deliver the project to global standards.

The Prime Minister extended his appreciation to all those who contributed to making this world-class cultural landmark a reality, “from the initial vision to the moment of its grand opening.”

Madbouly also expressed gratitude to Egypt’s private sector leaders who played a major role in supporting and organizing the opening ceremony, including Hisham Talaat Moustafa, Mohamed Mansour, Ahmed Ezz, Hassan Allam, Mohamed El-Etreby (Chairman of the National Bank of Egypt), and Khaled Mahmoud Abbas (Chairman of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company).

He emphasized that President El-Sisi had issued clear directives to ensure the completion of the Grand Egyptian Museum at the highest possible level, underscoring its symbolic importance as a national achievement and global cultural destination.

“The opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum is a historic event for Egypt, and a gift from Egypt to the world,” Madbouly said, highlighting the museum as a testament to 7,000 years of civilization and a new gateway for Egypt’s cultural and tourism development.

The official inauguration ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum is set to take place at 7:30 PM in a grand celebration attended by world leaders, presidents, kings, and princes, marking the beginning of a new era for Egypt’s cultural and tourism sectors.
