Egypt is drawing growing interest from international automakers looking to invest in the country’s automotive sector with a focus on exports, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib announced.
Speaking at the “Future of Industry and Engineering Exports” conference, organized by the Export Council for Engineering Industries, El-Khatib said the government continues to prioritize support for the automotive industry as part of its broader strategy to localize vehicle production and strengthen the country’s manufacturing base.
The minister noted that Egypt is working to boost its global competitiveness, aiming to rank among the world’s top 50 trading nations. He also underlined the government’s efforts to maintain balanced trade relations, with plans to expand cooperation with African markets while continuing to target European and other key regions.
Meanwhile, Sherif El-Sayyad, Chairman of the Export Council for Engineering Industries, said the sector has achieved an average annual export growth of 26% over the past five years, reflecting the resilience and potential of Egyptian engineering industries in international markets.
