He also emphasized his eagerness to expedite the finalization of the memorandum of cooperation on technical education, currently being coordinated with JICA and the Japanese Embassy in Cairo.
Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, met with Toshimitsu Imai, President, CEO, and Board Member of Japan’s Toyota Tsusho Corporation, to explore ways of cooperation.
Madbouly invited the group to expand its investments in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and take advantage of the available incentives, noting that Egypt’s membership in multiple international trade blocs facilitates the access of Toyota’s products to diverse global markets.
He also emphasized his eagerness to expedite the finalization of the memorandum of cooperation on technical education, currently being coordinated with JICA and the Japanese Embassy in Cairo.
The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the longstanding cooperation between Egypt and Toyota Tsusho, which dates back nearly 93 years.
He highlighted the company’s contributions in several sectors in the Egyptian market, including renewable energy, healthcare, and food supplies, alongside its core business in the automotive sector.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of his participation—on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi—in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), held in Yokohama, Japan.
For his part, Toshimitsu Imai reviewed Toyota Tsusho’s projects in Egypt, including Toyota Motor’s investments in car assembly and the operation of the RoRo terminal at East Port Said Port, where the company is a member of the international consortium managing the facility.
He further noted the group’s renewable energy activities, including two wind power projects in Ras Ghareb (5 MW) and the Red Sea (650 MW).
He further highlighted a memorandum of understanding signed with Egypt’s Ministries of Industry and Investment to strengthen cooperation in the automotive sector, localize manufacturing, and promote domestic production of components.
He added that the company’s activities extend across Africa in the fields of transportation, green infrastructure, and healthcare, noting that one-third of Toyota Tsusho’s global workforce is based in Africa.
