Egypt aims to attract $60 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) by 2030, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, said that during Egypt-Hungary Business Forum.

El-Khatib added that Egypt set a plan to achieve $145 billion in exports, and ensure that 65% of total investments come from the private sector by 2030.

He pointed to the tangible progress of recent efforts, citing that in 2024 Egypt attracted $46.6 billion in foreign direct investment, signaling growing global confidence in the country’s economic outlook.

Minister El Khatib described the high-level Hungarian delegation’s visit as a clear reflection of Hungary’s firm commitment to deepening its economic ties with Egypt.

El Khatib noted that the Egypt-Hungary Business Forum aims to explore significant opportunities for collaboration in investment and trade, while also fostering long-term partnerships that will drive economic growth, innovation, and shared prosperity for both nations.

He highlighted Egypt’s ambitious transformation journey, positioning itself as a leading investment hub in Africa, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a more open, competitive, and dynamic economy.

El Khatib emphasized that these goals provide a clear roadmap for future growth.

He added that Egypt’s strategic location, youthful workforce, and expanding infrastructure, paired with Hungary’s capabilities, offer a genuine opportunity to establish a mutually beneficial, long-term partnership.

For his part, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó expressed deep appreciation for the strong and evolving relationship between Hungary and Egypt.

He stressed the importance of further enhancing economic and trade cooperation between the two nations.

Szijjártó pointed to joint successes in the fields of transport and communications, including Egypt’s railway modernization project and the Egypt-Europe fiber optic cable initiative, as examples of strategic cooperation.
