This visit marks the second time the BCEAO has visited Egypt's Banknote Printing House in less than two years.
As part of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its ties with African nations and foster regional cooperation, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) recently welcomed a delegation from the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO).
The visit focused on gaining insight into Egypt’s state-of-the-art Banknote Printing House, located in the New Administrative Capital, which is recognized as one of the most advanced printing facilities in the Middle East and Africa.
The BCEAO delegation is exploring the possibility of establishing its own national printing facility, drawing on Egypt’s expertise.
This visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to witness firsthand the advanced technologies and processes involved in Egypt’s currency production.
The delegation was given an extensive tour of the Banknote Printing House, where they observed every stage of the banknote production process, from initial design to the final delivery at the Cash Center. The facility’s capacity to meet the printing needs of Egypt and other regional countries was also showcased.
One of the highlights of the tour was the high-tech security measures in place to protect the printed banknotes from counterfeiting. The delegation was briefed on the facility’s advanced security systems, which play a crucial role in safeguarding the integrity of the currency.
Additionally, they were informed about the quality control processes that ensure precision and consistency at every stage of production. Stringent testing protocols are implemented to guarantee that the banknotes meet the highest standards before they are issued. The delegation was also introduced to the ongoing Research and Development (R&D) initiatives aimed at improving product quality, enhancing production efficiency, and ensuring seamless currency circulation.
This visit marks the second time the BCEAO has visited Egypt's Banknote Printing House in less than two years. Their first visit took place during the African Currency Forum in 2023, also hosted by Egypt.
During that time, the BCEAO delegation acknowledged the advanced capabilities of the Printing House, recognizing it as a world-class facility that incorporates cutting-edge technologies used in global banknote production.
