The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of regularly monitoring updates on customs clearance for goods at ports and entry points across the country.
The total value of goods cleared through customs between January 1, 2024, and January 8, 2025 exceeded $79 billion, including $33 billion for production inputs and raw materials and $20 billion for strategic goods.
This came during a meeting held by Mkstafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, to review the progress of customs clearance operations and the implementation of the Advance Cargo Information (ACI) system.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of regularly monitoring updates on customs clearance for goods at ports and entry points across the country.
He highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to reduce clearance times, streamline the ACI system, and ensure the availability of essential goods and supplies to meet citizens' needs.
These efforts also aim to secure production inputs for various industries, contributing to greater market stability in Egypt.
Madbouly noted that the initiatives to reduce customs clearance times include several measures developed in collaboration with relevant authorities.
These efforts are supported by legislative amendments currently under preparation. He acknowledged that these actions have already contributed to a reduction in clearance times but stressed the need to achieve additional targets.
Mohamed El-Homsany, the Cabinet’s spokesperson highlighted that the meeting analyzed the values of goods registered under the ACI system from October 1, 2021, to January 8, 2025, both with and without petroleum products.
El-Homsany added that the meeting examined the value of goods currently in customs and those cleared as of January 8, 2025, under the ACI system.
The discussion also included a review of efforts by various authorities to further reduce customs clearance times and ongoing coordination among stakeholders.
