In line with directives from the Minister of Finance, Deputy Minister for Tax Policy Sherif El-Kilani held a community dialogue with the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (MSMEDA) and Egyptian Tax Authority to discuss the newly introduced tax facilitation package and gather their feedback and suggestions.

El-Kilani shared that the tax facilitation package aims to establish a comprehensive tax system for businesses with annual revenues not exceeding EGP 15 million as part of the government's efforts to encourage and support small enterprises through simplified tax treatment.

This reflects Egypt's commitment to fostering a supportive environment for small businesses, aiming to enhance their growth and operational capacity through improved tax policies and collaboration between key stakeholders.

El-Kilani proposed forming a joint committee between the Ministry of Finance, the Egyptian Tax Authority, and MSMEDA to unify concepts and procedures.

The committee would be tasked with reaching a consensus on a legal framework aimed at simplifying and incentivizing small businesses.

Key participants in the meeting included Rami Youssef, Assistant Minister of Finance for Tax Policy and Development; Rasha Abdel Aal, Head of the Egyptian Tax Authority; Dr. Mohamed Abdel Malek, Deputy Head of MSMEDA; and Dr. Hossam Abdel Aziz, Legal Advisor to the Authority.

Rami Youssef reiterated the minister's focus on three key priorities in fiscal policy: simplifying the tax system, fostering partnerships with taxpayers, and reducing administrative burdens through various tax facilities.

He also highlighted the need for an integrated and highly simplified tax system to support startups, small businesses, freelancers, and professionals.

During the discussions, the possibility of placing a representative from the Egyptian Tax Authority within MSMEDA and having a presence in tax offices nationwide was suggested to ease the process for taxpayers.
