Ministry Report Reveals Key Development Targets in Cairo's Housing Sector for 2024/2025

Cairo's housing sector sees significant investment as government allocates EGP 29.6 billion in 2023/2024 plan.

The Egyptian government allocated investments totaling EGP 29.6 billion for the housing sector in Cairo Governorate in the 2023/2024 plan, accounting for 31%. Following closely is the transportation sector with EGP 26 billion, constituting 27%, while the local development sector is allocated EGP 10.7 billion, representing 11%.

Higher education follows with EGP 4.5 billion, accounting for 4%, and the health sector with investments amounting to EGP 1.9 billion, constituting 2%. Other sectors in the governorate receive investments worth EGP 22.9 billion, comprising 24%.

A report by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development highlighted the key developmental targets for the housing sector in Cairo Governorate in the 2024/2025 plan. This includes directing around EGP 19 billion towards water and sanitation services, alongside EGP 691.5 million for electricity services. The number of developmental projects in this sector amounts to 93 projects.

In the local development sector, there are 495 developmental projects, with major targets including directing EGP 8.8 billion for local road paving and EGP 257 million for reinforcing electricity networks. The plan aims to implement 173 developmental projects in the higher education sector, including projects focused on completing programs supporting human resource development and infrastructure enhancement.

The report outlined a total of 1,260 developmental projects in the governorate, with general investment directed towards Cairo Governorate in the 2024/2025 plan amounting to EGP 96.2 billion.
