Egypt plans to increase petroleum and non-petroleum exports to reach $145 billion annually up from $53 billion over the next six years, Minister of Trade and Industry, Ahmed Samir stated during his meeting with Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly.

Furthermore, Egypt aims to achieve a yearly growth of 20% in its industrial production, enhance the green economy's contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) to a minimum of 5%, and generate 7 to 8 million job opportunities.

Samir added that the number of industrial complexes reached 16 across 15 governorates, with investments amounting to EGP 10 billion.

The Minister pointed to Egypt’s strategy to be a hub for sustainable manufacturing and have a crucial role in international trade.

In pursuit of this goal, the government seeks to enhance Egyptians capabilities, improve work environment, boost strategic business partnerships; In order to stimulate Egypt's economic transformation and enhance its global connectivity.

Earlier in March, Samir announced a significant increase in Egyptian merchandise exports during the months of January and February 2024. The exports amounted to $6.12 billion, reflecting a 6% rise compared to the same period in 2023.

Earlier in February, Egypt is set to implement a new strategy with the aim of increasing its annual exports to global markets, reaching a target of $100 billion annually, according to a statement by Samir.
