Midor refinery project contributes to Egypt's economy by $2.7B

The project aims to maximize the production of petroleum products, by increasing the current refining capacity from 100 to 160 thousand barrels/day, with an increase in production of up to 60%.

The expansion project at the Midor refinery contributes to the Egyptian economy, with an investment totaling $2.7 billion, and delivers premium petroleum products in quantities of up to 3 million tons each year.

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, stated that during the inspection tour with Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly to Midor oil refinery expansion project in Alexandria.

After adding the new quantity of petroleum projects, the total production capacity of the refinery is expected to reach about 7.6 million tons annually, El Molla added.

The project aims to maximize the production of petroleum products, by increasing the current refining capacity from 100 to 160 thousand barrels/day, with an increase in production of up to 60%.

Recently, the Prime Minister Madbouly inspected the artificial silk and polyester factory in Kafr El Dawar and is currently heading to the Alexandria port to supervise the release of goods from the port.

Madbouly also stated that the total amount of polyester that Egypt imports is close to $800 million annually.

He also inspected the Tahya Misr multi-purpose station on platforms 55-62, within the framework of developing Egypt's ports in enhancing Egyptian leadership as an international center for trade exchange, in order to achieve optimal benefit from Egypt’s geographical location.
